ALGAE EUROPE 2011, the Italian event dedicated to algae culture, took place from 5 to 8 October at fieramilanocity during LIFE-MED, the fair concept dedicated to Life Sciences, which had 250 registered exhibitors from 21 countries, and took up an area of 8,000 square metres. LIFE-MED also included NUCE INTERNATIONAL 2011, the second edition of the international fair for the Nutraceutic, Cosmeceutic, "Functional Foods & Drinks" and "Health Ingredients” industry, and BIOTECH 2011, the third edition of the fair and conference on biotechnologies.
ALGAE EUROPE aimed, once again, to spread the information on topics connected to the potential of this fast moving sector and its enormous development potential in diverse applications: from food and nutraceutics to cosmetics; from agriculture and animal feed to the treatment of wastewater; from the capture of CO2 to the production of biofuels and biogas. The conference programme was presented by qualified speakers from all over Europe, and heads of the most important developing projects on the use of algae in many applications.
LIFE-MED 2011 took place alongside CHEM-MED 2011, the international event on chemistry, which included RICHMAC, the 41st international fair and conference on instrumental and process analyses and on laboratory technologies, and the fair and conference WATERMED, dedicated to machinery, technologies and instrumentation for the treatment, process, distribution, engineering and analyses of water and wastewater.
